EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
A Hillsborough County teacher was the recipient of the Governor's Shine Award presented to her at the meeting of the Governor and Cabinet which was held at the Florida State Fairgrounds on February 7, 2013. The Shine Award honors the important role inspirational teachers play in developing the potential of their students and whose inspirational approach to teaching stimulates student learning. These teachers widen students’ horizons and encourage them to explore, a touchstone to paths of achieving more.
Teaching is her second career. She was an engineer in the higher-paying world of private enterprise and engineering. She left the corporate world and decided she wanted to inspire students, especially girls, to become passionate about math and science. She is a STEM teacher at Greco Middle School, coaches a robotics team, and does a robotics camp at Hillsborough Community College over the summer. |
