Extended School Year Program, 2013 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Extended School Year Program is designed to provide both academic and enrichment programs for students. The district’s Extended School Year Committee, with representation from all divisions, has coordinated the planning and implementation of the program for 2013. The Extended School Year Program supports the district Student Progression Plan by addressing options available to students and optimizes the use of Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI) funds, Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) funds, Title I funds, English Language Learner (ELL) funds, fee-based programs, community partnerships, and grant programs.

• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

The cost of the Extended School Year Program is approximately $15,002,000 and will include funds from both the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 school years.  Funds are included in the divisional budgets as follows:

  • $12,250,000    SAI categorical funds
  • $  2,222,000    IDEA federal funds
  • $     635,000    Various grant funds
  • $     255,000    Federal Title I funds
  • $     100,000    ELL program funds
EVALUATION
Individual program evaluations depend on the program level and program goal and will include one or more of the following: reports of enrollment, reports of attendance, FCAT score review, and end-of-course and end-of-program assessments.
