EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Amusement Park Science is a supplemental informational text used in the fourth grade science course with all students. The material provides the necessary complex text to support the integration of literacy into the science curriculum through a Literacy Design Collaborative close reading module. The Literacy Design Collaborative module is a three-week investigation of science content centered on the properties of force and motion with embedded English Language Arts Common Core (ELACC) State Standards-based instruction. The ELACC State Standards-based instruction includes a close examination of informational text, shared and independent reading instruction, teaching of academic vocabulary, discussion, and formative and summative writing assessments. Each school will receive class sets, based on the number of fourth grade science classrooms at the sites, to support the implementation of the Literacy Design Collaborative module.
These books from Sundance/Newbridge Publishing, LLC are considered sole-source and are exempt from the bidding process per Florida Department of Education 6A-1.012 purchasing policies as copyrighted materials. |
