SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Teacher Training Instructors for New Teacher Content Training, 2013/2014 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the attached listing of instructors who will conduct New Teacher Content Training for teachers new to the district or new to a content area.  Training will be held at various locations throughout the district August 5, 2013 - August 8, 2013.  The Curriculum and Instruction Division provides this opportunity to teachers for classroom management, content, pedagogy, professional ethics, district standards, and assessment knowledge necessary to begin the year successfully. Additionally, more support is provided for teachers throughout the school year at all levels.

Hours of service will vary due to the number of sessions and/or number of days on which trainings are being offered.  Based on the number of teachers participating in the training, permission is requested to add/delete trainer names to/from the list not to exceed the amount listed below.

• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum • Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds of $42,000 are available through the Professional Development budget-Title II.  The attached list of trainers totals $38,842.67.  An additional $3,157.33 has been budgeted to cover changes to the list for a total of $42,000.
EVALUATION
The Department of Professional Development will conduct teacher evaluation surveys at the conclusion of the training.
