SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Addendum 1 to the Certified Internet Web (CIW) Academy Agreement with Certification Partners, LLC to Provide Certification Curriculum and Testing for Career and Technical Education Teachers and Students (Career, Technical, and Adult Education)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On May 7, 2013, the School Board approved the CIW Academy Agreement with Certification Partners, LLC to provide certification curriculum and testing for Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers and students. We request approval for Addendum 1, which will allow for an expanded set of industry certification curriculum and testing to be offered to students. These certifications will be integrated into the curriculum of the web development program and other information technology career pathways. These certification tests are recognized by industry and provide students with a marketable skill to take to the workforce.

Industry certification tests are a required component of Career Academies as outlined in Florida’s Career and Professional Education (CAPE) legislation. Students successfully earning industry certifications generate weighted Full Time Equivalency (FTE) funding back to the CTE program where the student is enrolled and where the industry certifications are earned. Industry certifications are included in the calculation of school grades.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
The curriculum licenses are subject to renewal on an annual basis and the testing vouchers are for one time use. The total projected expenditure with this vendor for 2013/2014 is $70,000, which will be funded from weighted FTE funds earned by previous student achievement in industry certification testing.
EVALUATION
This Agreement will be evaluated by the number of successful industry certifications achieved by students and teachers.
