| Approve the Recommendation of the Purchase of Burlington English Seat Licenses from Burlington English, Inc. (Sole-Source Provider) (Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| The BurlingtonEnglish Core program is designed to target the Adult Education English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) student population to assist them in developing English language proficiency. Although this program includes low, intermediate, and advance levels, it can be utilized with all Adult Education students. BurlingtonEnglish will supplement the adult ESOL curriculum standards in improving student English language skills, as well as assisting Adult General Education (AGE) Development. It should be noted that BurlingtonEnglish is named in the AGE Grant.
The licenses from Burlington English, Inc. are considered sole-source and are exempt from the bidding process per Florida Department of Education 6A-1.012 purchasing policies as copyrighted materials. |

| Funding for this program is budgeted and available in the amount of $100,800 from the AGE Grant, Project 2524. This amount covers licensing costs for the 2013/2014 school year. | |
| EVALUATION | |
| All Adult Education ESOL students will be tested for English proficiency prior to class placement. Once placed, classroom instruction through various methodologies will be evaluated through continued regular assessments to determine student growth and proficiency. | |
