SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the 2012-2013 Energy Conservation Report, Energy Mentor Incentives, and School Incentives and Penalties
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The following annual Energy Conservation report for SY12-13 demonstrates the District's conservation efforts. During this period, energy consumption was further reduced. The District's electrical consumption per square foot dropped from 13.51 kWh/SF in SY11-12, to 13.42 kWh/SF for SY12-13. This decrease represents approximately a 0.84% drop in consumption, and a 2.6% cost savings from last year. Also included in the report is an update on the thermal energy storage (ice) plants. These plants now continue to avoid electrical costs of approximately $153,000 annually. This amount represents savings over conventional chilled water systems that require larger chillers. To date, these plants have avoided at least $461,521 in electrical costs. |
|
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES | |
• Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Funds in the amount of $91,170 are required for the site incentives and energy conservation mentor incentives ($84,170 for site incentives and $7,000 for mentor incentives). These amounts are adequately offset by the $987,553 electrical cost savings referenced above. |
