Approve the Naming of the Gymnasium at Chamberlain High School | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Chamberlain High School faculty, staff and community members have requested that the gymnasium at Chamberlain High School be named the Charles “Doug” Aplin Gymnasium in honor of Coach Doug Aplin.
Coach Aplin graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1972. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Florida. Coach Aplin became a faculty member in in 1978. He was the head basketball coach at Chamberlain High School for 31 years. Coach Aplin was a devoted teacher and beloved coach. His record at Chamberlain High School was 512 wins and 263 losses. No one deserves this honor more than Coach Doug Aplin. Coach Aplin retired May 31, 2011, after 31 years of service in Hillsborough County Public Schools. |
