SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Purchase of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Equipment from Haas Factory Outlet (Sole-Source Provider) to be Utilized at Brewster Technical Center (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We are requesting approval for the purchase of a Haas TM-1P vertical tool room milling center with a ten-station automatic tool changer. This system includes an intuitive programming training simulator, which the students will use in conjunction with Master Cam software. The TM-1P allows students an opportunity to learn milling processes that are widely used in advanced parts manufacturing.  The TM-1P aligns with the Industrial Machinery Maintenance curriculum framework standards by allowing students to learn machining practices and robotics.  The TM-1P includes a tool package that features a Reinshaw wireless intuitive probing system, two techno vices, a safety UPS-power protector, a screw conveyor chip auger, a high-flow coolant pump, remote hand pendant, rigid thread tapping, a two-year warranty, along with complete installation and training.

The equipment is designated as sole-source, as Haas Automation, Inc. is the manufacturer and exclusive provider for this system, and is exempt from requesting competitive solicitations by Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) 6A-1.012 Purchasing Policies (12) (d).  The quotes obtained are lower than the Government Services Administration (GSA) contract.  Haas Factory Outlet is a full-service distributor for Haas Automation, Inc. and is located in Tampa, Florida.
