Request Approval to Establish a Task Force Comprised of Internal and External Stakeholders to Review the District's Comprehensive Health Education Curriculum (Secondary Education) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
In lieu of pursuing funding for Healthy Schools from the Florida Department of Education and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the proposed task force would review the current health education curriculum and best practices, teacher training and resources, and programs implemented in our schools (e.g., human growth and development, Health Opportunities through Physical Education (HOPE), health standards taught through science curriculum). The task force will be charged with determining if any additions or revisions need to be made in our current curriculum and/or health education programs.
The task force will have representation from various stakeholders including parents, students, faith-based partners, healthcare providers, public health representatives, and science and health educators/supervisors. |
