Proclamation by Governor Rick Scott Observing November 2013 as Florida Parental Involvement in Education Month (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Annually, the Governor of the State of Florida proclaims November as Florida Parental Involvement in Education Month".  Research on parental involvement in early childhood through high school shows positive and lasting effects in many areas for children and parents.  The long lasting benefits include:

  • Positive impact on children's growth and development
  • Increase in school performance
  • Increase of parents exhibiting self-confidence in their parenting
  • Improved commitment to schooling and understanding of educational goals
  • Positive relationships between children, parents and school staff
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Motivate students to become responsible learners
