SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Various Expenditures from Jaeger Corporation (Sole-Source Provider) (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Board policy requires the Board approve and execute all contracts of the district involving expenditures of public funds in the amount greater than the amount established for purchase in Florida Administrative Code 6A-1012(7).  This is currently an aggregate amount of $50,000.

We are requesting approval for the expenditures made to Jaeger Corporation, which include a recent purchase of a hybrid and electric vehicle with simulation panel for the automotive program at Learey Technical Center.  This equipment will enhance the automotive program instruction by providing the students with knowledge and experience in the maintenance, repair, and service of components in a hybrid electrical vehicle.

The equipment is designated as sole-source as LJ Create is the sole manufacturer and copyright holder to all curriculum materials, workbooks, training guides, and software for this product.  Jaeger Corporation is the exclusive sole distributor and service/support center for LR Create in the state of Florida; therefore is exempt from requesting competitive solicitations by the Florida Department of Education 6A-1.012 Purchasing Policies (12) (d).

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum • Align financial resources to support the district’s strategic goals • Demonstrate best financial practices
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Fiscal year expenditures were $24,630 for 2012/2013.  For 2013/2014 year to date expenditures were $37,100.  Funds of $11,850 were available in Project 9052 for the Leary Technical Center purchase mentioned above.  Funds designated in Specific Appropriation 117A were provided to district workforce education programs to expand, enhance, or develop program offerings that will lead to industry certifications for automotive service technology; cyber security; advanced manufacturing; welding; pharmacy technology; and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning technology.  A purchase for health center software for Erwin Technical Center is also included in the aggregate expenditure amount of $51,700.
