Approve Training Vendor Agreement with Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc. (TBWA), 2014/2015 (Workforce and Continuing Education) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
This agreement continues the partnership with the local workforce board, which has been in place since the inception of the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998. WIA funds support eligible adult students enrolled in Postsecondary Adult Vocational (PSAV) programs by providing tuition, books, supplies, industry certification/licensure exams, and other related fees.
Programs for which WIA funds may sponsor students must lead to occupations included on the current Targeted Occupations List. During the 2012/2013 school year, approximately 88 WIA-sponsored students enrolled in workforce education programs through the school district’s technical centers. During the 2013/2014 school year, availability of local WIA funds has been restricted; however, to date, 77 technical center students have been sponsored by WIA. |
