Recognition of Feeding America Tampa Bay for Donation of Art Materials (Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Feeding America Tampa Bay is part of the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Their mission is to feed the hungry in a ten-county service area in west central Florida through a network of member food banks and engage others in the fight to end hunger.
The Empty Bowls event is held every November as a fundraiser to raise awareness about hunger. Approximately 700,000 people on any given day don't have access to enough food to maintain a healthy lifestyle. For $10, guests at the Empty Bowls event received a simple bowl of soup, fresh bread, an apple, and a clay bowl handcrafted by a Hillsborough County Public School student. Each bowl is a small but colorful reminder that not everyone has enough to eat. Feeding America Tampa Bay donated over 4 tons of clay and glaze to 68 district schools. We are pleased to recognize Feeding America Tampa Bay. |
