Accept the Education/State and Local Government Purchase Agreement with Apple, Inc. (Sole-Source Provider) to Provide Computer Hardware, Software, and Peripherals (Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
We are requesting approval for Education/State and Local Government Purchase Agreement with Apple, Inc. and the first purchase under said agreement of various video editing hardware and software. The equipment is being purchased for the Commercial Arts program at Tampa Bay Technical High School and the Television Production programs at Durant, Gaither, Leto, and Plant High Schools. This training equipment reflects current industry and certification standards.
The initial term of this Agreement shall be from March 19, 2014 until June 30, 2015 and may be renewed for additional one (1) year periods, not to exceed six (6) years. Pricing will be based upon the Apple K-12 Education and Government Price List and will be negotiable based on volume. This agreement may be renewed by the Superintendent, per the terms of the specifications. Any new projects exceeding $50,000 will require Board approval. Apple, Inc. is the sole-authorized distributor of Apple and Macintosh branded computer hardware and software for the educational market. In accordance with the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE), Purchasing Policy 6A-1.012(12)(d), commodities or contractual services available only from a single source may be exempted from the competitive solicitation requirements. When a district school board believes that commodities or contractual services are available only from a single source as specified by the FLDOE, the district school board may negotiate on the best terms and conditions with the single source vendor. |

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes) | |
Year to date expenditures are $93,322.93. Expenditures for fiscal year 2012/2013 were $122,421.14 and 2011/2012 were $496,744.25. Funds in the amount of $65,747.20 will be available for the purchase mentioned above from the Department of Career and Technical Education. | |
EVALUATION | |
Contract administration or evaluation is performed by the Project Manager (end user) and Procurement Officer, who function as a team. Reviews are conducted face to face, typically quarterly, or by utilizing an online vendor performance report. Prior to soliciting a new contract, the Contract Administration team must first give consideration to the specifications and supporting data of the expiring contract. | |
