Approve Contract with Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office (DACCO), Inc. (Instructional Support Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) operates alternative education sites to serve students who have been given a change of placement from their regular schools for having committed Level One offenses or have demonstrated continuous disruptive behavior.  DACCO provides supportive services for these sites, which includes the delivery of evidence-based practice curricula and counseling for substance abuse prevention.  During the 2014/2015 school year, DACCO will provide counselors at Brandon Alternative and North Tampa Alternative.  Each counselor serves approximately 25-30 students.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
HCPS provides DACCO with $50,000 to pay in part for the services provided and affords space for the counselors at the school sites.  DACCO provides funds for grants and other sources to support the implementation of these services.  This item is included in the Part 1 budget for 2014/2015.
EVALUATION
DACCO provides quarterly reports of the progress of participating students that include, but are not limited to, data such as behavioral changes as a result of counseling and the number of students who successfully complete the evidence-based practices curricula.  These quarterly reports are summarized in the year-end report that will be completed by June 30, 2015.
