Recognition of the 2014 Florida Geography Bee Finalists and State Winner (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The National Geographic Geography Bee competition is a national contest for students in grades 4-8 that is held in Washington, D.C.

Schools participate in the Geography Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography.  The Florida Geography Bee was held in Jacksonville, Florida on April 4, 2014.

Students from Randall and Walker Middle Schools placed in the top ten at the state level.  A student from Turner Elementary School is the state winner of the 2014 Florida Geography Bee and will compete at the national level May 22, 2014. We are proud to recognize these students for their accomplishments.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
