| Approve the Memorandum of Agreement Between Abe Brown Ministries, Inc. and Hillsborough County Public Schools (Instructional Support Division) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| Abe Brown Ministries, Inc. is a faith-based organization that has successfully developed and implemented programs for people at-risk in this community for nearly 40 years. This agreement establishes a formal partnership to better support students whose parents are incarcerated. Under this agreement Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) will provide support for two of their programs: Ready4Work (a program to assist ex-offenders with reentry into the community and workforce) and Family Reunification (a program which provides voluntary opportunities for family members to participate in live video visitations with parents who are inmates).
The Director of Adult Education and Supervisor of School Social Work Services will work with the staff of Abe Brown Ministries, Inc., district personnel, and families to further develop this partnership. Plans include: professional development training sessions for guidance and student support services staff, curriculum for a GED course to be delivered by adult education staff at an identified site, and joint outreach efforts to garner additional support for these efforts. |

| EVALUATION | |
| A review of the outcomes associated with this partnership shall be conducted by the Supervisor of School Social Work Services, the Director for Adult Education, and the President of Abe Brown Ministries in March 2015. This review will be shared with the Superintendent to ascertain the impact of the partnership and make a determination as to a continuance of this agreement. | |
