SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Reorganization of the Division of Instructional Support
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
It is proposed to move the Dropout Prevention Specialists (DOP) and Student Intervention Specialists (SIS) from the Division of Student Services and Federal Programs to the Division of Instructional Support. This move would allow for a greater collaboration of support with the Social Worker, Psychologists, Guidance Counselors, and Attendance staff for those targeted students. Expected results would include closing the achievement gap, improving graduation rates, reducing the number of suspensions, and improving attendance.
It is proposed to change the name of the Dropout Prevention Specialist/Student Intervention Specialist position to Student Success Specialist. This would offer a more positive approach to the position and align with our district’s vision and mission. It is proposed to transfer an Administrator on Special Assignment, from the Division of Administration, to align training, resources and oversight to the daily operation of our Student Success Specialists. An organizational chart for the Division of Instructional Support and the relevant job descriptions are attached. |
