Approve Award of Contract for Roof Replacement at Apollo Beach Elementary School
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

A previously approved District Facilities Five Year Work Program provides for replacement of the roof at Apollo Beach Elementary School.  District staff selected Roof Engineering Associates, Inc. from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design services.  The scope of work includes removal and replacement of the existing roof.

The project was advertised and bids received (see attached bid tabulation).  The Board previously approved award of a contract for construction to Tecta America West Florida LLC. Subsequent to award, it was determined that qualification information provided by Tecta America with their bid was inaccurate. Tecta America was provided an opportunity to correct their qualification deficiencies and has failed to do so. Award of a contract to Southern Roofing Company, Inc., the lowest qualified bidder for the base bid and selected alternates as indicated on the attachment, is therefore recommended.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

Total funds in the amount of $1,150,000 are included in the District Capital Outlay:  Local Millage.   The contract amount being awarded is $1,149,781.
