Approve Teacher Training Instructors for New Teacher Orientation 2014 (Instructional Support Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the attached listing of instructors who will conduct New Teacher Orientation. This training is for all teachers hired new into Hillsborough County Public Schools. This training will be held at Armwood High School from July 28 - July 31, 2014. New Teacher Orientation provides all newly hired instructional personnel with an overview of the initiatives and philosophies of Hillsborough County Public Schools. In addition, participants will be oriented to the district’s evaluation rubric and observation process. This training will also focus on the following topics: classroom management, planning, diversity, high expectations, and professionalism. 

Teachers who are new to the profession will have the opportunity to learn more about the Teacher Induction Program (TIP) and meet the group of mentors that will help support them throughout the school year.  Hours of service will be from 7:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. for 4 days of training, totaling 32 hours of service and up to 5 hours of prep time for all trainers.

Grant funds for this training will be provided through the Race to the Top, Title II, and TIF 4/POWER 3 Grants.  The total cost for trainers is $201,028.
