Approve Change Order No. Three for Bleacher Renovations at Robinson High School
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Routine inspection of the stadium bleachers at Robinson High School identified serious structural deterioration in the home side bleachers requiring their closure. To minimize the impact to the upcoming football season, immediate repairs to the bleachers are needed.

To expedite the repairs, District staff solicited design and construction management services for the work from Schenkel & Shultz Architects, Inc. and Mills Gilbane, with the intent to accomplish the bleacher renovations as a change order to their ongoing renovation project in the Robinson High School kitchen. The scope of work includes replacement of corroded structural steel members and fasteners; miscellaneous bleacher improvements required by current codes; and painting of the entire bleacher support structure.

The construction manager solicited competitive bids for the work. Following negotiations, District staff issued a Construction Change Directive (CCD) as provided for in District policy to expedite completion. Policy also requires that normal change order procedures be followed for work expedited by a CCD.

As the cost of the change exceeds $100,000, Board approval of the change order is required.

This item is included in Student Nutrition funds and District Capital Outlay:  Local Millage.
