Approve Third Amendment to Interlocal Agreement for Educational Services with Hillsborough County for Firefighter Training by Learey Technical Center (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This is the Third Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement for Educational Services.  The original Agreement was approved by the School Board on June 12, 2012; the First Amendment was approved on June 11, 2013; and the Second Amendment was approved on June 10, 2014.  Hillsborough County requested this Amendment to accommodate the continuing need for updated training.

The Third Amendment increases the number of training hours and the amount the district will be paid, as well as extends the length of the Agreement through June 30, 2015.

This Amendment has been submitted by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue for consideration at the September 17, 2014, meeting of the Board of County Commissioners.  Pending County approval, signatures will be provided following School Board approval.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
This item is included in the divisional general operating budget.  The Fire Fighter 1 and 2 training programs generate Workforce Education Funds; the Continuing Education classes are financially self-sustaining.  Hillsborough County will pay the district for student tuition, Continuing Education instructor salaries, and indirect costs.  This Third Amendment provides for an increase of $273,117, bringing the total amount of the Agreement to $1,479,771.86.
EVALUATION
Evaluation will be based on an analysis of the number of hours of fire fighter training provided by June 30, 2015.  During the time period of the First and Second Amendments, Learey Technical Center provided  22,328 hours of training for Hillsborough County Fire Rescue employees.
