Approve the Piggyback Between DES of Florida (DESF) and Marion County Public Schools, General Agreement for Temporary Services - Contract Number DESF-051466-MCSB (Business Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

DESF specializes in providing retired personnel to government agencies. DES will recruit, interview, and provide retirees to work for the district in temporary assignments.  The district initially plans to have DES provide several recently retired teachers to serve in temporary assignments for teachers on leave of absence. This will allow the district the opportunity to staff the classrooms with qualified, experienced teachers at lower costs than the budgeted positions.  DES may also be requested to provide non-instructional employees as needed, but only when the costs of the temporary assignments are less than the costs of the budgeted positions.  The agreement began on June 24, 2014, continues through June 30, 2017, and may be renewed by the Superintendent, per the terms of the specifications.

In accordance with Florida Department of Education Purchasing Policy 6A-1.012(6), in lieu of requesting competitive solicitations from three or more sources, district school boards may make purchases at or below the specified prices from contracts awarded by other city or county governmental agencies, other school boards, etc.
