Endorsement of House Joint Resolution 68 to Have the President Create a Presidential Youth Council

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In the House of Representatives, September 30, 2013, representatives from various states introduced a joint resolution which has been referred to the Committee on Education and the Workforce.  This joint resolution is supported by Representative Kathy Castor and endorsed by various organizations.  (Attachment I)

Joint Resolution 68 (Attachment II) supports the young Americans of today to be ready to lead the America of tomorrow.  A Presidential Youth Council will further the objective to teach the next generation the importance of civic engagement and allow them to actively participate in the political process.  It will give young Americans an avenue to advise the President and Congress on issues related to youth.  This council could also strengthen the federal government’s youth programs to be more effective and efficient.
