Approve Schematic Design and Expenditure for Modular Buildings for Conversion of Tinker Elementary to a K-8 Grade Configuration

To provide additional capacity at Tinker Elementary School and support conversion of the school to a K-8 grade configuration, District staff  selected Long & Associates Architects/Engineers, Inc. and Halfacre Construction Company from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design and construction management services for a project to add six modular classrooms to the campus.

Approval of schematic design as illustrated in the attachment will allow the design professional to proceed with construction documents.  As the documents indicate, the proposed layout for the modular addition allows for future expansion of the campus via permanent  classroom additions.

Due to the long lead time for delivery of the modular buildings, approval to acquire the modular buildings in advance of guaranteed maximum price (GMP) approval is also requested. Project completion for the modular addition is scheduled for July 2015.

Construction budget is $1,400,000, which includes approximately $450,000 for the modular building component.  Costs for this project shall be District Capital Outlay: Local Millage.
