SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve ICT Agreement with Certification Partners, LLC to Provide Certification Curriculum and Testing for Career and Technical Education (CTE) Students (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In 2014, the Florida Legislature passed legislation to create CAPE Digital Tool Certificates, which are assessments designed for students in grades K-8 that indicate a student’s digital skills.

The ICT program contains five different assessments that are on the Florida Department of Education’s CAPE Digital Tool Certificate list, including Database Essentials, Gaming Essentials, Multimedia Essentials, Programming and Logic Essentials, and Web Design Essentials.

For implementation in grades K-5, the CTE Department will work with Elementary Education to create specialized educational programs that will align with these certificates. For implementation in grades 6-8, the CTE Department will integrate these certificates into existing CTE courses.

The FTE student membership shall be calculated for CAPE Digital Tool Certificates earned by students in elementary and middle school grades.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
The curriculum license and test vouchers are sold per student on an annual basis.  It is estimated that 1,000 elementary school students and 5,000 middle school students will participate in this program.  The projected cost is $60,000, which will be funded from weighted FTE funds earned by previous student achievement in industry certification testing.
EVALUATION
This program will be evaluated by the CTE supervisor based on the number of students participating and completing the CAPE Digital Tool Certificates.
