Approve the Contract with DES of Florida to Employ an Interim Assistant Superintendent for Administration for Hillsborough County Public Schools
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Since September 1, 2014, the Deputy Superintendents have been performing the administrative duties required of the Assistant Superintendent for Administration position. While this was an efficient, short-term solution, DES of Florida can provide the district with an experienced administrator through August 31, 2015.  This purchase is exempt from requesting competitive solicitations from three or more sources as prescribed in the Department of Education 6A-1.012 Purchasing Policies (11)(a).

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Based on current salaries, the amount that would be budgeted, including fringe benefits, for this position through August 31, 2015, is approximately $149,600; the lowest possible salary and benefits an employee in this position could earn for that period would be $129,318. DES of Florida can provide an experienced retiree through the end of August 2015, for a total cost to the district of approximately $107,744. This is a savings of $21,574 when compared to the cost of an employee new to the Assistant Superintendent pay schedule and as much as $41,855 when compared to the estimated salary and fringe benefits budgeted.
