Approve Memorandum of Agreement between National Council for Behavioral Health and The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida (Student Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Hillsborough County Public School District has been awarded a federal grant  known as Project AWARE (Advancing Wellness and Resilience in Education) as a result of President Obama's "Now is the Time  Initiative." The Project AWARE grant provides funds to host Youth Mental Health First Aid training. Thirty Student Services staff members (Guidance, Psychology and Social Work) will participate in this training.  Upon completion, Youth Mental Health First Aid training will be provided by these instructors to Problem-Solving Leadership Teams in eighty-one of the district's secondary schools.

It is the practice of National Council for Behavioral Health to sign negotiated contracts after School Board approval.

Cost of these trainings is $35,000 and is inclusive of travel, lodging and per diem for the two trainers.  Training costs will be covered by the Project AWARE grant budget.
EVALUATION
Administrators from Psychology, Social Work and Guidance Services will meet to implement the program and follow up activities.  Evaluation efforts will be developed with a district leadership team from this grant, including Student Services staff, the Assessment and Evaluation Office, and an external evaluator to assure the coordination of these efforts.
