EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The following annual Energy Conservation report for SY13-14 demonstrates the District’s conservation efforts. During this period, energy consumption was further reduced. The District’s electrical consumption per square foot dropped from 13.42 kWh/sqft in SY12-13, to 13.40 kWh/sqft for SY13-14. This decrease represents approximately a 0.15% drop in usage over last year. However, there was a 0.53% cost increase due to rate increases. Therefore, the consumption savings results in $29,676 in cost avoidance. Also included in the report is an update on the thermal energy storage (ice) plants. These plants now continue to avoid electrical costs of approximately $194,261 annually. This amount represents savings over conventional chilled water systems that require larger chillers. To date, these plants have avoided at least $655,782 in electrical costs. |

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES | |
• Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Funds in the amount of $89,861 are required for the site incentives and energy conservation mentor incentives. Funds totaling $83,361 go towards site incentives and the remaining $6,500 goes towards mentor incentives. Those amounts are adequately offset by the $223,937 cost avoidance referenced above. |
