Hillsborough County Public Schools 1:1 Initiative | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Initiative: The Hillsborough County Public Schools 1:1 Initiative is a multi-year project designed to guide us through the transition to Digital Classrooms.
Goals: The goal of this Initiative is to transform teaching and learning by creating a student-centered digital ecosystem enabled by ubiquitous student access to fully functional, mobile computing devices. Targeted Population: The targeted population is all students, teachers, and school sites over a mutli-year roll out plan. Timeline: This year we are planning and designing a pilot phase for the Fall of 2015. The 2015-2016 Pilot year will involve a small number of Vanguard sites. A phased rollout across the district will follow in subsequent years. Professional/Staff Development: Substantial initial and on-going professional development for teachers will equip them with tools, skills and methodologies needed to create personalized, digital learning environments. Administrators will receive training to help them foster and lead a culture of digital learning within our schools. Involvement: We have formally organized the project (see the attached Project Organizational Chart). A Steering Committee, an Executive Sponsor, a Project Manager, and Team Leaders for 12 separate teams are all in place. Team members have also been selected bringing the total number involved currently to approximately 150 - District Staff, Administrators, Teachers, Students, and Community Members. Working with our Team Leaders we have developed a clear Mission, Vision, and set of Principles to guide the Initiative (see the attached Project Charter). We are currently in a design phase, establishing the foundations for our digital learning ecosystem. |
