Approve Training Vendor Agreement with Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc. d/b/a CareerSource Tampa Bay, 2015/2016 (Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
This agreement continues the partnership with the local workforce board, which has been in place since the inception of the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998. WIA funds support eligible adult students enrolled in Postsecondary Adult Vocational (PSAV) programs by providing tuition, books, supplies, industry certification/licensure exams, and other related educational fees. Programs for which WIA funds may sponsor students must lead to occupations included on the current Demand Occupations List. | |

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes) | |
CareerSource Tampa Bay provides student vouchers. The technical colleges invoice for the vouchers and receive payment to cover student educational expenses. | |
EVALUATION | |
During the 2013/2014 school year, 106 WIA-sponsored students enrolled in workforce education programs at the school district's technical colleges; 57 WIA-sponsored students have enrolled through the first semester of 2014/2015. This training vendor contract is evaluated annually through required reports of student participation and progress. | |
