SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Purchase of Additional Licenses from Agile Mind (Sole-Source Provider) for the Intensified Algebra Program for High School Students (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On May 7, 2013, the Board approved the purchase of campus licenses of Agile Mind's Intensified Algebra program for 2,800 students, 56 teachers, and 27 high schools.  Intensified Algebra I is an intervention course for students who enter algebra up to two years below their grade level.  Due to the increased enrollment of 2,700 students, additional licenses need to be purchased.

The services provided pursuant to this agreement shall continue for each ensuing school year through June 30, 2018.  The district reserves the right to terminate all or part of any contract when doing so is in the best interest of the district.  With the exception of any contract, which the district deems to have an impact on security, a minimum notice of 30 days for termination will be in writing.  Any advance monies paid by the district shall be prorated to the date of termination and refunded to the district.

This purchase is exempt from competitive solicitation as per the Florida Department of Education 6A-1.012 Purchasing Policies (11)(b) which states the requirement for requesting competitive solicitations for commodities or contractual services from three or more sources is hereby waived as authorized by Section 1010.04(4)(a), F.S., for the purchase by district school boards of educational services and any type of copyrighted materials.

Budgeted funds of $365,670 for the 3-year period are available from Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI). 
EVALUATION
The evaluation of the program will be based on the classroom usage of the instructional tool by teachers and students, through online data reporting, as well as targeted students' proficiency upon Florida Standards end of course examinations for Algebra I.
