| Approve Renewal of Interlocal Agreement for the Provision of Educational Services with Hillsborough County, Florida for Fire Rescue Staff and Reserve Responders by Learey Technical College, 2015/2016 (Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| We request approval of the renewal of the Interlocal Agreement for Educational Services to provide training for employees of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. Learey Technical College successfully initiated training for Hillsborough County firefighters in 1991 through an Interlocal Agreement for Educational Services with the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. This Interlocal Agreement is mutually beneficial for continuation of necessary firefighter sciences training throughout Hillsborough County.
This agreement was submitted by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue for consideration at the August 5, 2015, meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. Pending County approval, signatures will be provided following School Board approval. |

| This item is included in the divisional general operating budget. The Firefighter 1 and 2 training programs generate Workforce Education funds. Hillsborough County, Florida will pay the district for student tuition, instructor salaries, and indirect costs. The maximum value of this agreement is $339,888.80. | |
| EVALUATION | |
| During the 2014/2015 school year, approximately 800 Hillsborough County fire department employees received initial training and continuing education in the areas of firefighting and emergency medical procedures. Evaluation will be based on an analysis of the number of hours of firefighter training provided by June 30, 2016. | |
