Approve Agreements for Technical Services Provided to Visually Impaired Grant (Student Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of Agreements for Technical Services for continuing services listed on Attachment A that are provided to the Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired (FIMC-VI) annually.

Since 1972, the Florida Department of Education/Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (FLDOE/BEESS) continues to support FIMC-VI with federal IDEA/Part B, IDEA Trust Funds, and State General Revenue appropriations to meet the instructional materials needs of students with visual impairments enrolled in Florida’s schools.  As defined by Florida Statute, 1003.55, FIMC-VI will produce, procure, distribute, recirculate, and house specialized materials for students who are blind and visually impaired.  Hillsborough County Public Schools has served as FIMC-VI’s headquarters for the past 42 years.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds of $245,025 are included in divisional special revenue/federal programs budget (Project 2917) and $135,090 (Project 2939) FIMC-VI.
EVALUATION
As required in the Additional Assurances included in the 2015/2016 Project Application, quarterly data reflecting all project activities will be maintained in the FLDOE/BEESS Project Tracking System.
