Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with C.E. Mendez Foundation, Inc. (Student Services Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Upon approval, this Agreement for Technical Services will continue to enhance the partnership between The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida (HCPS) and the C.E. Mendez Foundation. The C.E. Mendez Foundation provides programs designed to mitigate the risk factors and enhance protective factors related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, as well as provides social emotional learning skills to students. Training will be offered to mental health staff at the Project PREVENT sites to promote usage of the materials for Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions with students.
Elementary Schools: Booker T. Washington, Clair Mel, Folsom, Ippolito, Robles, Shaw, Sulphur Springs, Thonotosassa Middle Schools: Adams, Dowdell, Greco, Jennings, Madison, McLane, Memorial, Sligh, Van Buren High Schools: Chamberlain, Hillsborough, King, Middleton The C.E. Mendez Foundation will also provide direct services to the grant schools through classroom instruction and support for the Project PREVENT sites to ensure fidelity of the program. Technical assistance will be provided to the mental health staff in the 21 Project PREVENT schools listed above to support implementation. Too Good for Drugs and Violence is designated as a model program by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and rated by the National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practices. |

EVALUATION | |
Under the terms of the grant, an external evaluator, contracted by HCPS, will evaluate the project, providing annual reports to the project directors, the Assessment and Accountability Department, and the United States Department of Education. Copies of the report and the final evaluation report will be provided to HCPS Assessment and Accountability Department annually.
