Approve Selection of Board Member and Alternate to Serve on the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) (Attachment Added) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
In 2014, the School Board voted to seek membership on the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), an entity created by statute comprised of local elected officials and representatives of the major transportation entities in Hillsborough County. The MPO is responsible for long-range transportation planning for the county.
Under the MPO authorizing statute, the School Board qualifies for membership as an agency that operates a major mode of transportation. The MPO voted to include a member of the School Board as a voting member of the MPO and began the process of amending its Interlocal Agreement with all their member agencies. That process is complete, and now the School Board must select which of its seven members will serve on the MPO. |
