SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the First Amendment to the Memorandum of Agreement Between Lighthouse Guidance Systems, Inc. (LGS) and The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida (HCPS) (Student Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
LGS is a Florida-based intermediate and secondary education technology company and the innovator of Guidmii, formerly known as LGS Connect.  LGS Connect is a Short Message Service (SMS) driven software program that satisfies Florida Statute 1003.4156 (1)(e), which mandates every student to complete a personalized college and career educational electronic plan. Upon approval, Guidmii will allow eighth grade students to create personalized academic plans that will guide their high school career path.  High school students will utilize the embedded programs of study, diploma designations, and graduation requirements to prepare for their postsecondary career. Guidmii also allows students to monitor their academic progress by having access to their academic history, test scores, grade point averages, the Bright Futures Program and community service hours.

Guidmii has been implemented since the fall of 2013 and LGS willingly collaborated with HCPS by amending the existing contract and lowering the previous negotiated price.

This contract will be for a one-year period commencing October 1, 2015, and ending July 31, 2016.  This agreement then shall renew for subsequent one-year terms upon mutual written agreement.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
All Strategic Objectives
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
For the use of the Guidemii software for the period from October 1, 2015, to July 31, 2016, the cost will be $157,939, and for the renewal period(s) beginning August 1 and ending July 31 of each renewal year the cost will be $189,527 and funded through the internal accounts of the schools utilizing the program.
EVALUATION
Guidance services will work with the vendor to conduct focus groups consisting of students, parents, and counselors, providing feedback to benefit the end user. Most recently, through focus groups, LGS has made user interface improvements, added career pathways information, and updated the academic career plan layout; these modifications have resulted in the new Guidmii 2.0. At the conclusion of each school year, a report will be created by LGS to monitor the completion of the eighth grade college and career educational electronic plans and the usage by high school students.
