SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Spot Survey 4.4 for Brandon and East Bay High Schools, Sulphur Springs K-8 Community School, and the Technology Operations Center at Silo Bend
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Florida Statute 1013.31 requires all school districts to submit an educational plant survey once every five years to the Florida Department of Education (FDOE). The survey establishes the condition of existing facilities, makes recommendations for repairs, major renovations, remodeling, and capacity improvements, based on actual and anticipated needs. As exceptions to the original survey recommendations arise, the School Board is required to amend the educational plant survey by submitting a "spot survey" to FDOE. On June 10, 2014, the School Board approved the District's 2015-2019 FDOE Five Year Educational Plant Survey 4.1. On February 17, 2015, the School Board approved Spot Survey 4.2, converting Tinker Elementary to a K-8 facility. On March 3, 2015, the School Board approved Spot Survey 4.3, converting Sulphur Springs Elementary to a K-8 facility. A spot survey is now required for minor remodeling projects at Brandon and East Bay High Schools; for a 12-classroom addition (accommodating 272 student stations) at Sulphur Springs K-8 Community School; and for the acquisition and remodeling of a new facility to consolidate Information & Technology Division operations. |
