Recognition of Willie Lee, Security Officer of the Year for 2014-2015 | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Security and Emergency Management Department is pleased to recognize the Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) Security Officer of the Year -- Officer Willie Lee.
Officer Lee has been a HCPS Security officer for 15 years, and is currently assigned to Blake High School. During the 2014-2015 school year, Officer Lee demonstrated the highest level of professionalism and dedication as he dealt with issues that had the potential to threaten the safety of the campus, student body, and faculty. Officer Lee’s quick action to evacuate the campus last fall and coordinate the response of HCPS personnel, Tampa Fire Rescue, and the Tampa Police Department due to a natural gas leak was outstanding. A few months later he intervened with a student that was attempting to jump off the North Boulevard Bridge in an effort to end her life. His quick action undoubtedly saved this student’s life. These specific instances, and his continued efforts at Blake High School, are the reasons why Officer Lee was recognized as the HCPS Security Officer of the Year for 2014-2015. |
