Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with Challenge Day for the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP): Project Securing College/Career Opportunities Through Rigor in Education (SCORE) Grant (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of GEAR UP: Project SCORE is to increase early college awareness among targeted students from the GEAR UP sites (Eisenhower Middle School, Giunta Middle School, East Bay High School, and Spoto High School) in Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) by expanding services and enhancing resources to serve students, educators, and schools as a whole via its proposed project.

This agreement with Challenge Day will include six Challenge Days during the 2015/2016 school year.  A total of 600 students and 150 school staff members will participate.  The Challenge Day program addresses school culture and connectedness.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $23,680.00 will be available in the GEAR UP: Project SCORE Grant. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 2981. As of Monday, November 2, 2015, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $121,485.00. The remaining balance less encumbrances for the GEAR UP: Project SCORE Grant is $660,957.33
EVALUATION
HCPS will collect and provide assessment data to an outside evaluator for the grant.  The outside evaluator will provide a copy of the annual evaluation report and final evaluation report to the HCPS Office of Assessment and Accountability.
