In 2014, the Florida Legislature passed legislation to create CAPE Digital Tool Certificates, which are assessments designed for students in grades K-8 that indicate a student’s digital skills. The ICT program contains five different assessments that are on the Florida Department of Education’s CAPE Digital Tool Certificate list, including Database Essentials, Gaming Essentials, Multimedia Essentials, Programming and Logic Essentials, and Web Design Essentials.
For implementation in grades K-5, the CTE Department will work with Elementary Education to create specialized educational programs that will align with these certificates. For implementation in grades 6-8, the CTE Department will integrate these certificates into existing CTE courses. |
