EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The University of South Florida (USF) College of Education Early Childhood and Elementary Education Program in the Department of Teaching and Learning (T&L) and Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) have collaboratively established four hybrid PRT positions to promote and enhance elementary student learning. PRTs focus on actualizing the goals and themes that drive the USF elementary education educator teacher preparation program and support for elementary student learning.
The four PRTs hired by HCPS serve as university pre-intern and final internship supervisors providing the college-level courses in the Elementary Education Program, acting as liaisons between HCPS and T&L, and assisting partnership faculty with research of mutual interest to HCPS and T&L. |

Seventy-percent of the PRTs salary expense of $215,000 will be paid to HCPS in two installments. The first half will be paid by the USF College of Education in December of each contract year and the second half will be paid in June of each contract year. USF payment activity will be reflected in Project 4180, Part I funds. Thirty-percent of the PRTs salary expense of $216,000.38 will be paid by HCPS Title I, Project 3057. As of Thursday, November 12, 2015, the remaining balance is $11,256,257.23. | |
EVALUATION | |
Supervision and evaluation of four PRTs will be done jointly by HCPS and T&L. The retention of teachers and the academic results will be reviewed annually. Data from the 2012/2013 school year to the present indicates that of the 46 alumni that work in HCPS: 20 (43 percent) work in 1 of the 6 Urban Teacher Residency Partnership Program (UTRPP) schools; 41 (89 percent) work in Title I schools. | |
