Increase the Funding Allocated for the DES of Florida (DESF) Contract, General Agreement for Temporary Services, Contract Number DESR-051466-MCSB (Human Resources Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
On June 30, 2014, the Board approved the piggyback to allow DESR, who specializes in providing retired personnel to governmental agencies, to recruit, interview, and provide retirees to work for the district in temporary assignments. DESF provides the district with the opportunity to staff classrooms with qualified experienced teachers at lower costs than the budgeted positions. DESF has also provided non-instructional employees as needed, but only when the costs of the temporary assignments are less than the costs of the budgeted positions.
In 2014/2015, Hillsborough County Public Schools contract with DESF saved the district more than 30 percent of the cost of the budgeted positions. In addition to the monetary savings to the district, the contract allows for continuity of education for students. |

Funds in the amount of $300,000.00 will be available in the Human Resources budget (General Fund). For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 5091. If approved at the December 15, 2015, School Board meeting funds in the amount of $300,000.00 will be moved from the Human Resources divisional budgets.
Based on the $300,000.00 requested, the district is expected to save approximately $90,000.00. |
