SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Reorganization of the Logistics Operations and Furniture Repair Departments
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Logistics Operations began an initial reorganization in July 2013, where 15 Transport Equipment Operators and Laborers  were reassigned from the Furniture Repair Department to the Logistics Operations warehouse to streamline the services being offered in the district and eliminate multiple district vehicles going to the same site on the same day. This has worked extremely well and has increased the performance of the department.

 The proposed reorganization will include:

  • Reassign Storeroom Manager to Analyst, Routing and Planning
  • Reassign two Logistic Technicians to Storekeeper 3
  • Create a Career Ladder within the Logistics Operations Department
  • Reassign Assistant Maintenance Repair Supervisor to Supervisor, Maintenance Repair
  • Reassign Accounting Clerk 1 to Accounting Clerk 2

These proposed changes will result in improved operational efficiency of the department while aligning positions to the expanded job duties being performed and developing an improved career ladder in the department.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce • Provide for a district-wide succession planning structure and visible career ladder • Align financial resources to support the district's strategic goals • Demonstrate best financial practices
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

The reorganization of the Logistics Operations Department and Furniture Repair Department will represent an annual savings to the district of $2,705.08 beginning January 4, 2016.
