TO: | School Board Members |
FROM: | Jeff Eakins, Superintendent |
SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Reorganization of the HVAC and Energy Management Services Department
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The attached reorganization plan represents a supervisory change to the previous Board approved reorganization of July 20, 2010. That reorganization proved to be very successful in saving district funds, while improving service response time and quality of repairs. The proposed changes will increase departmental oversight and greater operational efficiency, resulting in greater quality of management and increase the overall cost effectiveness of maintaining and operating the more than 27,000,000 square feet of building space to serve the students of Hillsborough County. The two job descriptions which are attached for approval will provide the supervisory changes we are recommending. |
|
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES | |
• Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce • Provide for a district-wide succession planning structure and visible career ladder • Align financial resources to support the district's strategic goals • Demonstrate best financial practices
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)
Once implemented, the district will realize annual cost savings totaling $35,385. The final cost savings for the deletion of the electrical engineer will be realized with the retirement of the Electrical Engineer beginning April 16, 2016. There will be additional savings based on improved management proficiencies, improved focus on vendor performance and contractor management. |
