SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Reclassifications within Security and Emergency Management (Chief of Staff)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Reclassify (18) School Security Officer II positions to (18) Community School Officer II positions. The job duties and descriptions are the same with both of these positions. Each requires the officer to work at an elementary school site or a group of elementary school sites.  The School Security Officer II (SSO II) is a twelve month position.  The Community School Officer II (CSO II) is a ten-month position.

Reclassify the following (Reorganization Worksheet - Attachment A; Job Descriptions - Attachments B-F):

  • Assistant Security Manager (53301 Exempt) (PG 32) to Captain, Security and Emergency Management (PG 37) - Attachment B
  • Senior School Security Specialist (53316 Exempt) (PG29) to Lieutenant, Security and Emergency Management (PG 33) - Attachment C
  • School Security Specialist (53315 Non-Exempt) (PG 26) to Sergeant, Security and Emergency Management (PG 28) - Attachment D
  • School Security Specialist (53314 Non-Exempt) (PG 23) to Corporal, Security and Emergency Management (PG 25) - Attachment E
  • Executive Secretary (50211 Non-Exempt) (PG24) to Senior Executive Secretary 2 (Non-Exempt 50206) PG 26 - Attachment F

The reclassification and added functionality of Emergency Management to the Security Services division addresses the necessity to reclassify and rename the Managerial and Operational Support positions to be commensurate with the span of control and increased duties and responsibilities. As the Security and Emergency Management division expands, the sensitive and confidential data of emergency planning, and correspondence with public safety agencies will be required for the Senior Executive Secretary 2.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce • Align financial resources to support the district's strategic goals • Demonstrate best financial practices • Promote a culture of safety, which is free from harassment, bullying, and aggression
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Through attrition of the (18) aforementioned SSO II’s and the reclassification of the Office Support, Operational Support, and Managerial positions listed, a cost savings measure of $37,309.84 will be realized.
