Approve Second Amendment to Subagreement (#79002) Between the New Teacher Center (NTC) and the School Board of Hillsborough County, FL, (HCPS) for Services Associated with HCPS Role in NTC’s Federal Supporting Effective Educator Development Grant Program (SEED) (Student Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) initially awarded $13,944,289 to NTC for a Supporting Effective Educator Development Grant in 2012. On August 27, 2013, the Board approved the subagreement between NTC and HCPS. On July 14, 2015, the Board Approved the renewal of the subagreement between NTC and HCPS.

The current agreement will increase the allocation to $425,000 available through June 30, 2016. This partnership focuses on increasing the effectiveness of teachers and principals in the district "through a reform of practices and strategies and the creation of new programs within a structured induction program of professional development and mentoring work with beginning teachers and novice principals." This will be achieved by continued implementation of a two-year intensive instructional and student-learning focused system of teacher indication and principal induction based upon the principles, practices, and protocols of the NTC.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $425,000.00 will be available in the districtwide SEED budget. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 2437. As of Wednesday, January 6, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $26,079.83. This amount will increase upon approval of this item.
EVALUATION
Under the terms of the grant, NTC is responsible for project evaluation.  A copy of the annual reports and final evaluation report will be provided to the HCPS Office of Assessment and Accountability.
