Accept the Piggyback of State of Florida Alternate Contract Source Number 43211500-WSCA-15-ACS with Hitachi Data Systems via Datalink Corporation for Mainframe Storage (Information and Technology Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This agenda item will allow Information Services staff to acquire hardware components, itemized in Attachment A, to increase our server storage capacity and serviceability of the hardware.

The existing IBM Model 8100 storage area network has a capacity of 20 Terabytes (TB) of storage. The IBM storage was acquired in January 2006 and has reached its end of support life.  The Hitachi storage system will replace the IBM Model 8100 and provide the required storage to support the district’s mainframe computer.  The district’s mainframe computer supports the Student Information System and Enterprise resource planning applications.

The proposed equipment consists of a Hitachi Data Systems model G1000 storage area networks, containing 24 TB of available space.  The storage will utilize flash module drives to provide the best performance. This system also provides the flexibility to attach other systems that can benefit from the increased performance. Included in this proposal is 40 hours of consulting and training credits.

The cost of the new storage capacity includes a hardware and software warranty for three years.  Funding for the ongoing maintenance, following the warranty period, will be included in the Information Technology budget and is estimated at $30,451.00 per year.
