Recognition of Students with Perfect Attendance from Kindergarten through the Twelfth Grade with the Support of Suncoast Credit Union and Toyota of Tampa Bay (Student Services Division) |

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Research has shown that school attendance is the foundation of student achievement. Sixteen years ago, in an effort to encourage school attendance, Deputy Superintendent Beth Shields initiated an annual attendance program to recognize students who have maintained perfect attendance from kindergarten through the 12th grade. This year two local businesses, Toyota of Tampa Bay and Suncoast Credit Union, joined with Hillsborough County Public Schools to recognize eight students who have achieved 13 years of perfect attendance. Those students are:

• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Motivate students to become responsible learners | |
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes) | |
Recognition awards have been purchased by the school district in the amount of $382.52. Funds are available in the general fund, project 9999. Suncoast will provide a gift card and Toyota of Tampa Bay will provide laptop computers for each student recognized. | |
EVALUATION | |
At the end of each school year, the Supervisor of Attendance will conduct a search of the district's student database to determine seniors who qualify for the Perfect Attendance Award K-12. | |
